Student Spotlight: Musician performs opera in multiple local venues, upcoming recital

Jon Kaufman is a fifth year senior who has a great talent for performing opera.  Kaufman is a music business and technology major who studies with Professor Sims of the Millersville Music faculty.

Kaufman has performed in many musical events, including his role as lead tenor, Rinuccio, in Opera Lancaster’s fall 2008 production of Giacomo Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.

Kaufman will also participate in Opera Lancaster’s 2009 production of Lights in the Piazza, and the spring 2010 production of Puccini’s La Boheme.

Kaufman plans on attending graduate school for Opera performance to continue his passion for singing, he has also considered teaching private lessons in the future.  He would like to attend either the University of Maryland or the University of Delaware.
Kaufman will be featured in a co-recital, An Evening with Ebony and Ivory, along with AJ Walker on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 7:30p.m. in Lyte Auditorium. The recital will feature the works of Puccini, Verdi, Duparc, and Schubert.
