The Lady Marauders shut down Mansfield’s entire offense.

Sophomore Kristen Lepley’s hat trick led the Millersville women’s soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Mansfield on Saturday. After thirty minutes of scoreless play, sophomore Quantera Lightner played a slotted ball through the Mountaineers defense to Lepley who beat the keeper on the right to score her first collegiate goal. Goalkeeper Olivia Webber had a three save effort in the first to send the Marauders into halftime with 1-0 advantage.
Millersville opened up the second with a strong offensive attack. After two saves from Mansfield’s keeper, Alexis Wilhelm, Lepley collected the ball midfield and charged the Mountaineer defense. With no pass option, Lepley fired a shot from 20 yards out that glided over Wilhelm’s reach and into the goal to advance Millersville’s lead 2-0.
The Marauders totaled 13 shots on goal and 23 shots on the day. Lepley took the last shot of the game from 15 yards out.  She bent the ball around Wilhelm into the left side of the cage to complete her hat trick and secured Millersville’s 3-0 victory.  Webber notched her first shutout of 2012 with a final save in the last six seconds of the game.  Millersville took their first PSAC win of 2012 and improved to 3-2 on the season. The Marauders travel to California (Pa.) on September 19 for their next PSAC game.
