Goodbye general education requirements.  Last semester the University faculty voted to approve four changes to the general education curriculum.  These changes are effective immediately for all students enrolled at the University.
Within the G1, G2 and G3 blocks, the restriction that two courses must be from the same department has been lifted.  Students will now be able to take three different courses from three different departments. However, students will still not be allowed to count three courses from the same department.
Additionally, the perspectives course will count within both general education and the major.  This will be like how the diversity and writing courses are now.  Within the connections and explorations block, the open elective will be removed.  However, students may still use this open elective to fulfill the UNIV 1023 requirement.  Lastly, the number of required writing intensive courses has been altered from four to three courses.
These changes were designed to improve the overall flexibility of general education requirements and are now less restrictive.
