Men’s soccer takes overtime thriller against Slippery Rock

The overtime victory should surely boost the team’s confidence.

Saturday October 13 the Millersville Men’s soccer team traveled to Slippery Rock University where they played in their first overtime game of the season. After falling
behind in the first half it was junior Andrew Dukes, No. 20, that got the Marauders back in the game.
Slippery Rock took the lead early in the first half scoring in the 13th minute of play. But, the Marauders the Rock at bay while keeping the shot statistics close. The Marauders took 5 shots on goal and had 4 corner opportunities to Slippery Rocks 6 shots and 5 corner attempts.
In the 62nd minute of play Millersville got on the board. From 25 yards out Dukes took a long shot that snuck past the goalie into the lower left 90 of the net. While neither
team were able to score for the rest of the second half the shot margins were significantly different. Millersville had 10 corner kicks and 14 shots on goal, while Slippery Rock had no corners and only 4 shots on goal.
The game ended 1-1 which sent the Marauders into their first overtime of the season. After two scoring threats and a corner attempt by the Rock Millersville’s Dukes was able to score and end the game with a Marauder 2-1 victory.
The Marauders next game will be away against the Bloomsburg Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on the 16 of Oct.
