The women’s swimming team showed no mercy against Mansfield in a 136-55 blowout.

On Saturday, the Millersville women’s swim team traveled to Mansfield for their first dual meet of the season, hoping to return with a perfect 1-0 record to kick off the season.
The lady Marauders did that and more, blowing Mansfield out of the water by a score of 136-55. Millersville easily handled the Mountaineers in nearly every event, taking each of the first seven races, and nine of the eleven on the day.
Setting the lady Marauders on their winning streak was the 200 yard medley relay where the group consisting of seniors Ashley Kichline and Sarah Bernhardt, and freshmen Jessica Del Monaco and Janelle Laudermilch, finished with a time of 1:56.88 to take the top spot and give Millersville eleven points.
Following their impressive showing were wins by Millersville women in the 1000 yard freestyle, 200 yard freestyle, 50 yard freestyle, 200 yard IM, 200 yard butterfly, and
100 yard freestyle.
Senior Arielle Walbert took the top time in both the 200 yard butterfly and the 100 yard freestyle, displaying her versatility.
Not to be outdone were Jess Del Monaco and Sarah Bernhardt, who, in addition to their contributions to the aforementioned 200 yard medley relay, each tallied two individual wins to lead Millersville to a comfortable victory over the Mountanieers.
Mary Brigid McDonnell and Brigid Kavanaugh of the lady Marauders took home victories in the 200 yard IM and 200 yard backstroke, respectively.
The girls get back into the pool for the first home dual meet next Saturday, October 27th, at 1 pm against Juniata, hoping to repeat the performance they put on against Mansfield and improve their record to a perfect 2-0 on the season.
