The women’s volleyball team prepares to play Shippensburg next.

On Saturday afternoon, Lady Marauder’s volleyball team took on the West Chester Golden Rams, but lost on their home court 3-2 in a tough match.
This was an important match for both teams. Coming into the match the Marauders lead the Golden Rams by one match for the fourth and final PSAC Tournament spot in the PSAC East.
At the beginning it looked almost like the Marauders had it in the bag, winning the first set 27-25 and the second set 25-19. The Golden Rams had their own plans though and they won the third set 25-13, the fourth set 25-16 and the fifth 15-13.
Offensively, sophomore Katie Lesinski led the team with 14 kills in the match, for the 10th straight game. It was the fourth in the past five games Lesinski had double-digit kills. Kayla Walls was not far behind with a total of 13 kills. Combined the two had seven errors of 67 attempts. Even with all efforts of these two ladies on offense, they were no match for the Golden Rams.
Defensively, the Marauders had a total of 68 digs, 13 of them coming from freshman Brooklyn Smith. Junior Jessica Franz had a total of 10 digs and she had 44 assists.
It was also senior day for the Marauders. Before the match Millersville honored lone senior Sue Caramanico. Caramanico had an ace and eight digs in the match.
Millersville’s next match is Tuesday, against Shippensburg. This is another important PSAC East match. When they met earlier in the season Shippensburg won 3-0. The match begins at 7 p.m. in the Pucillo Gymnasium.
