The Millersville women’s basketball team played host to the West Chester Golden Rams on Saturday. The Lady Marauders entered the game coming off a win against Bloomsburg and in a three-way tie for first place in their division.
A win against the Golden Rams would bring Millersville one step closer to hosting the PSAC Tournament. Unfortunately, the game did not get off to a good start as the girls fell behind early 8-0 before they managed to get on the board from Miesha Cousins scoring two off a layup.
The Marauders took their first lead of the game at 9:49 of the half and went into halftime with the 37-34 advantage.
It was all Millersville in the second half as the girls completely dominated the game and shut down the West Chester offense; while, outscoring their opponent 39-24 in the half.
Millersville led for the rest of the contest and never let the Rams back in, who at one point managed to cut the deficit to six, but were unable to get any closer. The girls went on to win 76-58.
The Lady Marauders played shut down defense and fired from all cylinders including from beyond the three point line, where Senada Mehmedovic made five of Millersville’s six three pointers. Contrastingly, West Chester made only four three pointers off of 19 attempts, shooting 21.1% from beyond the line. Millersville had 28 second chance points, compared to the Golden Rams 18 and had 25 points off turnovers to West Chester’s 14.

The Lady Marauders proved too big a hill to climb for the Rams.
