On Friday the Millersville softball team played in a double header against East Stroudsburg, the Maruaders won the first game, but fell short in the second. The games were the opening of PSAC East play.
The Marauders dominated the first game with a final score of 9-1. East Stroudsburg’s Becca Smith hit a home run off a pitch from Millersville sophomore Sarah Bertoni, scoring their only run of the game. That was the only hit Bertoni allowed all game, ending it with a one-hitter.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Marauder offense stepped up, scoring three runs.
In the bottom of the third, Millersville scored five more runs, making the score 8-1. The score remained so until the bottom of the sixth, when Jamie Motsko scored the final run of the game, a win that improved the record 17-6.
East Stroudsburg did not let their loss affect them in the second game. Offensively, Millersville was shut out for the second time all season. In game two of the doubleheader, East Stroudsburg only allowed Millersville six hits off two different pitchers.
