It’s that time of the year again for the Student Senate, as it is now time for elections. There are a few positions open, and for the candidates who meet the criteria, and have accepted their nominations, it is their time to start campaigning. Candidates who are running for officer positions include Justin Miller for President; Michael Brockett, Nicole Guy, and Parth Patel for Vice President; Nicole Guy, Parth Patel, and Tyler Durante for Corresponding Secretary; and Leigh Miller for Treasurer.

Justin Miller
Justin Miller

Justin Miller, current VP, says this about his future position: “If elected Student Senate President, I will focus on communication, collaboration and change. I will take a proactive approach to this by convening all organizations periodically to collaborate ideas, make public statements to the students regularly to always keep them informed and work on reshaping Senate to truly benefit the students and meet their needs.” He seems like a very well qualified, honorable person to take over such a prestigious position, so we look forward to seeing that possibly happening.
As far as the Vice President goes, there are a few people running for the position. One possible contender is Michael Brockett who has this to say about his position: “I am Michael Brockett and I am running for Student

Senate Vice President. If elected, I will uphold the integrity of the senate and increase communication between the student government and the university community. As leader of the Student Concerns committee, I will make sure every student’s voice is heard.”
Another hopeful future Vice President is Nicole Guy who had these comments regarding the possibility of such a high position:

“The students are the heart of this campus and I intend to facilitate communication between administration and students. I plan to showcase the voice of as many students as possible and vocalize them through various outlets. I endeavor to see more diversity among Senate and have more opinions represented when voting on decisions. Millersville let me serve you!”
Lastly, the third and possible VP is

Parth Patel

Parth Patel, who said this about his possibility of obtaining this position: “I want to be your VP because I want more student voice in the decisions we make. We represent you, your likes, dislikes, and concerns. I want to hear what you have to say and what I can change for you. So vote for me and let’s make change happen!”
Transitioning to another open spot in the Senate now, and we move to the Corresponding Secretary position. Nicole Guy, who is also running for VP, is also running for this position. She said this regarding the position, “If I were privileged enough to be elected I would aim to expand upon the advertising of student concerns and information. I aspire to see more collaboration with other organizations on campus and the ability for students and organizations to utilize Senate for their publicity needs as well. Millersville let me serve you!”
Parth Patel is another possible officer who is running for two positions, and he had this to say about his possible position as the Corresponding Secretary, “I want to be your corresponding secretary to spread the word about what senate does for you. We do all we can to make this campus better and we listen to what you say and make change happen. So vote for me and let me show you what senate does for you!”

Tyler Durante
Tyler Durante

Tyler Durante is the last running member for Corresponding Secretary, and he had this to say about possibly getting this spot, “As Corresponding Secretary, one thing I plan to bring to this position is to get senate’s name out to students, and diversify senate. I want to make what is happening in senate more transparent, also making student senate feel more welcoming. I want you to know. Come talk, I’m here!”
Lastly, but without further ado,

Leigh Miller
Leigh Miller

Leigh Miller is running for the Treasurer spot in the Senate, and when asked about the officer position, she had this to say, “As a fourth year Student Senator, I am running for the Treasurer of your Student Senate! I have been a part of the allocations process for three years. As the treasurer, my goal is to allocate organizations in a way that will benefit the student body as a whole.”
These make up this year’s possible officers for the Student Senate. Elections are coming up very soon, so when the time comes, be sure to get out and vote as these people represent the students’ voices and concerns.
