The softball team were one game away from breaking a 7-year-old record.

The Millersville softball team had a chance to set a school record for most wins in a season in their doubleheader against West Chester, but fell just one shy, tying the record of 30 games. They key to their game two win was phenomenal pitching by freshman Amanda Wink.
In Sarah Bertoni’s final start of her astounding sophomore regular season, the Lady Marauders fell to West Chester 7-1. After three scoreless innings, West Chester’s offense exploded scoring all seven of their runs over the final four innings. Despite letting up multiple scores, Bertoni maintained her dominance on the mound and looks forward to furthering her collegiate career next season.
Jamie Motsko’s RBI single was the team’s only run of the game, as Jordan Sheffield scored from third base. Sheffield and Danielle DiFilippo both had hits in the inning, but could not add to the lack of Millersville offense.
Game two, however, consisted of Wink’s impressive pitching performance. Her four-hit shutout of West Chester capped off her rookie year with a 2-3 record, and an ERA of 2.56. Her dominant pitching was not enough for her, however. Wink also scored the team’s only run of the game with an RBI single. Of the other Lady Marauders, the team totaled six hits, including two from Sheffield.
With the win, Millersville finished the season tied for the lead in the PSAC pitching staff with 16. The total ERA of the Lady Marauders averaged to 1.91 which was the third best in the conference. With only seven homeruns allowed, the pitchers recorded the second-least by a PSAC staff and the lowest by a PSAC East team.
At the end of the season, the Lady Marauders had a total of 202 runs: the fifth best in the PSAC. Adding to their offensive authority, the team also had a total of 62 doubles with a collective batting average of .291.
The doubleheader split ended their regular season record at 30-20 with a 6-10 conference record. The .600 winning percentage is the team’s best in university history, barely edging out the 2006 record of 30-21.
The current roster for the Millersville softball team consisted of no seniors, ensuring another positive season of impressive showings, and potential records being broken. The team should have continuity in bringing back most, if not all of their star players.
