The women’s track and field team had a strong showing at last weekend’s Paul Kaiser Classic. The girls captured one first place finish in the 5,000 meter run, won by Sarah Mulvey with a time of 18:27. Elizabeth Reese and Sarah Fink finished eighth and ninth respectively in the event, while Mallory Austin and Megan O’Neill placed 15th and 16th respectively. In the 400 meter dash Kayla Naughton finished third with a time of 57:44 tying the school record. Then in the 200 meter dash, Kiara Allen placed fourth with a recorded a time of 25:40, while teammate Erin Mason finished ninth with a time of 25:64. In the 800 meter run, Amanda Long and Megan Meyer finished seventh and eighth with qualifying times of 2:19 and 2:20 respectively. Jessica Fritsche competed in the triple jump recording a distance of 10.53 meters, her best of the year and placing eighth for the event. Then in the 4×100 meter relay, the team of Fritsche, Mason, Allen and Naughton ran a time of 48:86, finishing in fourth place. Allen and Mason competed in the 200 meter run where the girls ran PSAC qualifying times of 25.40 and 25.64. They recorded fourth and a ninth place finishes in the event. Then in the high jump Mary Stewart recorded a distance of 1.52 meters good for 11th place. She also participated in the long jump, where a distance of 4.48 put her in 32nd place. Vanessa Hower placed fourth overall in the discus throw with a total of 37.56 meters. Four Marauders captured top ten finishes in the hammer throw with Ann Kovac placing third with a distance 48.52 meters. She was followed by Kelli Farris in fourth with 47.83 meters, Nicole Sokira in fifth with 45.76 meters and then Hower in sixth with a distance of 44.98 meters. Next up for the Marauders is the Lock Haven Invitational scheduled to take place on May 4.
