The Student Senate election went well as there were a decent amount of voters trying to put their say into who will be their future representatives. There were a total of 294 voters, and with these voters, there are now four new members on the Executive Board.
The President spot was awarded to Justin Miller with an 87.75% win margin with 258 votes. Parth Patel was awarded the new Vice President spot with 167 votes, which translated to 56.8% of the votes. Leigh Miller is the new treasurer, and she won the election with 281 votes and 95.57% of the votes. Our new Corresponding Secretary is Nicole Guy, and she won with 50.34% of the votes. The Corresponding Secretary position was the closest election, as it came down to the wire.
There was one referendum question that asked, “Would you be interested in one dining location being designated for healthy eating and allergy free options?” There were 219 votes for yes, and there were 72 votes for no.
This election went well, and we were glad to see interest in the student body. We are excited to see have our new Exec. Board, and we are ready to keep working for the best interests of the student body. Next year, make sure that you get out and vote, as these new leaders are always looking out for the student body’s best interests.
