Family, friends and most importantly their furry friends will participate this Saturday at Rapho Township Community Park from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for the Run Walk and Wag 5k benefit which is being hosted by Millersville University students Kara Weber and Jordan Unroe. All of the proceeds will benefit the Humane League of Lancaster County’s Animal Rescue Fund.
Weber and Unroe have spent countless hours putting this event together, and they were brought together after they met in a course they had together at MU. It was their undying love for animals and the desire to help that made them team up together for this event.
“During my time at the Humane League as the marketing intern I came to realize the strong need of medical expenses for sick animals,” said Weber. “By having this walk we hope to raise a generous amount of money to donate to the animals and have a day of fun for the animal lovers of the community.”
The funding raised from the event is used for much needed medical services such as specialized surgeries, medicine and extended recovery time in foster homes.
There will also be a raffle prize giveaway including items from Fulton Theatre, Lancaster Comedy Show, York Revolution, Rainbow Dinner Theatre, Chameleon Club, and many more. Some vendors who will be making an appearance are: Caring Angels Pet Service, Bob’s Barkery, K-9 Snack Shack, That Bounce Place, among others. Live music will be performed by Fuzzheimer, and concessions will feature delicious baked goods, hot dogs, chips, free Turkey Hill iced tea and even treats for the furry friends.
Tickets for the event can be purchased on Saturday. The vision of the Humane League of Lancaster County is a humane community where all pets are protected and wanted. For additional information visit Humaneleague.com.
