Cross country’s Cruz places 17th at Kutztown’s Challenge

The Millersville cross country team traveled to Kutztown on Saturday for the Division II Cross Country Challenge. It was a beautiful day as the girls were one of 17 teams that traveled to the track for the competition. There were 192 competitors at the event, with Millersville freshman Shannon Cruz crossing the finish line 17th overall in 23:18. The next Marauder to cross the finish line was junior Megan Meyer who finished the race in 85th place in 25.07. Close behind her was Katie Hild in 98th place with a time of 25:21. Amanda Long was right behind Hild with a time of 25:24 in 100th place. In 118th place was freshman Taylour Mauro who crossed the finish line with a time of 25:52. Sophomore Megan O’Neill, finished in 125th, completing the course in 26:11. Freshman Jessica White successfully completed the course with a time of 28:03 in 168th place. In first place was senior Victoria Davis from Bloomsburg University who completed the course in 21:50. Also finishing in the top three were Kim Wernerspach in second from East Stroudsberg with a time of 22:32. In third place was Jeannie Bujdos from Seton Hill who crossed the finish line with a time of 22:34. The team placed 13th overall out of 17 with a score of 334 which was determined by adding the top five finishes of each team. Millersville’s top five scores were Cruz with 17, and Meyer whose team place was 68th. Then Hild’s team score was 78, while Long’s was 80 and Mauro’s was 91. The first place team with the lowest score was California University, PA with 80 who had three runners place in the top ten. In second place was Stonehill with a score of 92 and in third was Seton Hill with a score of 101. The girls travel to Newville, Pa for the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational on September 28th at Dickinson College.
