Tug-o war has been revamped according to the MU Delta Zeta sorority. The turtle tug took over the quad on Tuesday evening, nothing like Jell-O tug-o-war to get the students involved and staring. Rebecca Pierce, a senior and the chapter president for Delta Zeta said, “this is a national event, a lot of chapters do this, although this is MU Delta Zeta’s first run at this event, we hope to make it an annual event.”
During the event, the sisters of Delta Zeta (who currently have 16 active members) put together a raffle to give away prizes. Raffle tickets were a dollar apiece and prizes included; a Coach basket, mini-fridge, toaster oven and two Starbucks baskets. Pierce also stated that, “absolutely every penny from this event goes to charity. The charity it goes to is The Painted Turtle Camp (based in California), which is a camp for terminally ill children and their families, the camp is a chance for these kids to have a normal camp experience.”

All of the sisters also helped to make shirts for the event, which were designed by one of the sister’s who is in graphic design. Teams and individuals registered for the event to participate, for a team of five the cost of registering was $25. WIXQ provided the music for the event and DJ Paula West played some happening tunes ranging from pop to the top 40 hit songs.
Courtney Hepler, Delta Zeta sister and senior who is majoring in public relations said, “I hope a lot of people show up for the event, because it’s for kids. I love doing philanthropy work for kids.”
