The Artistic Season has been up and running for less than a month with already an abundant amount of events and performances taken place with even more to come. Music is an art that just about everyone enjoys and as live performances, most would say they bring a whole new atmosphere. For the rest of October, Millersville’s Ware and Winter Center’s are promised to bring several live performances to the Millersville and Lancaster community.

To mark the middle of October, Vocalist Roseanna Vitro will bring her talent to the Ware Center on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 7:30 pm. She has received a 2012 Grammy Nomination for her Motema debut, “The Music of Randy Newman”, in the Vocal Jazz category, put together with Steve Rudolph, Keith Mohler, and Bill Goodwin who will also be performing with Vitro. Having toured the world as a performer, recording artist, instructor and ambassador has helped Vitro collaborate with a wide range of music.
Grace Kelly Quintet, also known as Grace Kelly, is an Asian-American jazz saxophonist, vocalist, composer, producer and educator who introduces individuals to the world of Jazz. She has released over eight full-length albums and recently released her first single, “Sweet Sweet Baby”,that has made it the #10 spot on Billboard Magazine’s “Smooth Jazz song charts”. Grace Kelly will be performing at the Winter Center on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 7pm.
Ready to dive into the Halloween spirit? Opera Macabre is an opera cabaret that features ghosts, witches, and magic that will showcase classics from Mozart, Verdi, Bizet, and Saint-Saens. This performance welcomes all to attend and hopes for everyone to leave in a Halloween mood ready for trick-or-treaters, hayrides, hot chocolate, and costumes galore. Opera Macabre will be performing on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Ware Center in downtown Lancaster.
Millersville’s Department of Music presents “Jazz at the ‘Ville” with MU’s Jazz ensemble and Jazz Lab Band performing various selections such as Swing Era popular songs, jazz standards, and works by contemporary jazz composers. Enjoy the sound of classic music and support Millersville musicians on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Winter Center.

Are you a lover of both music and poetry? Come see John Terlazzo & Voices in the Hall, “An Evening of original songs and poetry” on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. taking place at the Ware Center. John Terlazzo, Kristina Machusick, and Paul Wegmann will show off their vocal talent by singing several songs, reciting poems, and possibly telling a few folktales from any number of cultures when they take the stage.
2013 Van Cliburn Classical Piano Silver Medalist, Beatrice Rana will be performing at the Winter Center on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Beatrice Rana began her musical studies at the age of four and made her concerto debut when she was nine. She has performed and been invited at the Busoni, La Folle Journée, La Roque d’Antherón, Lanaudière, and Radio-France Festivals. She was the First Prize winner of the 2011 Montreal International Musical Competition and released her first CD in 2012. Currently, she is studying at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover after graduating from the Nino Rota Conservatory of Music. “Beatrice Rana will be – in fact, already is – one of the most significant artists of her generation… Music lovers all over the world can look forward to many many years of wonderful performances from this exceptional person.” – Nina Tichman, Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne
Red Rose City Chorus comes to Lancaster to end the month of October musical performances on Sunday the 27th at 2:00p.m. at the downtown Lancaster location, the Ware Center. Red Rose City Chorus is the Lancaster, Pennsylvania chapter of Sweet Adelines, an international singing organization with more than 32,000 women. Their performance will encompass a mish-mashed musical selection ranging from American anthems and Christmas classics to rock’ n ’roll to and country.
