With only one win on the season (1-9), the fighting Marauders looked to turn their tide around in the game against East Stroudsburg (7-3). Averaging only 10.6 points per game, the odds were against the Marauders. Although it was a new week, it was the same story: the Marauders got torched by running back Robert Healy on the first drive as he broke off for a 58-yard run that ended in a touchdown. It all looked bad from the start and unfortunately it didn’t get any better from there. At halftime, Millersville surrendered 54 unanswered points.

Late in the third, QB David Coates was sent in. He ended a long nine play, 75-yard drive with a touchdown pass to Kevin Porter. This touchdown was the lone scoring drive the Marauders were able to put together with the end score of 66 – 7.

What Hurt Us: Turnovers. Our land pirates ended up with two interceptions thrown and two lost fumbles. Just like our last game, passing still seems to struggle down the stretch with two interceptions and a completion percentage of 25%.

Bright spots: Millersville rushed for over 100 yards, led by Ian Sadon who ended the day 4 yards shy of century mark. QB David Coates attempted only one throw and he connected with Kevin Porter to register his first career touchdown pass. TJ Richardson and Jody Dodds both forced a fumble on defense with Rasheed Johnson leading the team in tackles with seven.

What to look for in the next game: Watch Ian Sadon try to get 125 yards in order to reach the 1,000 yards rushing mark on the season. Although the Marauders head into their last game with one win under new coach Greg Breitbach, don’t expect the Black and Gold to go down easy against California, Pa.

California comes in as the favorite with an intimidating 6-4 record, but their road record is just 2-3. The Marauders are going to fight hard so they can end the season on a high note. Come out and watch the last game of the season Saturday, November 16 at 4 p.m. on Chryst Field at Biemsderfer Stadium!
