The Millersville wrestling team traveled to Lock Haven this past Sunday to compete in the annual Mat Town Open, and left with opponents stunned by the performance of redshirt freshman Aram Moffitt.
Starting with a 12-3 major decision over his first opponent, Moffitt won four matches on the day for the second time in his two tournaments on the season. His only loss came from Lock Haven’s Phil Sprenkle who placed first in the entire tournament.
After his lone loss, the determined redshirt freshman refused to lie down, as he won the consolation bracket over Franklin & Marshall’s Isaiah Cromwell. Immediately after, Moffitt overpowered Shaun Heist of Bloomsburg with a 10-5 decision, and advanced into the third place match where he fell just short against Pittsburgh’s Ryan Solomon.
Unfortunately for the rest of Millersville’s wrestling team, no other competitor won more than one bout in the tournament. Though they were carried by Moffitt’s remarkable performance, the Marauders looks bounce back in the PSAC Championships in Edinboro on December 7th.
