Indoor track and field races into second

The Millersville women’s indoor track and field team was red hot on Friday at the Ursinus Open in Collegeville, PA. The girls finished the day tied with Ursinus for second place with 89 points. Several Marauders turned in first place finishes including Erin Mason in the 200 Meter Dash. Mason flew past her competitors as she crossed the finish line in 25.99. Also Brittney Martin was first for the Marauders in the 400 Meter Dash, with a time of 1:02. The team of Erin Madison, Martin, Megan Meyer and Amanda Long secured Millersville another win in the 4×400 Meter Relay, which they completed in 4:09. Arianna Camel earned the Marauders final win for the day in the High Jump, with a distance of 1.57m. The girls placed in the top five in several other events including the 60 Meter Dash, where Kiara Allen and Mason placed second and fourth respectively. Allen also ran in the 200 Meter Dash where she placed fifth with a time of 26.80. Meyer also turned in a strong individual performance in the 800 Meter Run, where she finished second in 2:24. Shannon Cruz was just edged out for the win in the 5000 Meter Run, which she completed in 18:39. Madison and Camel earned two more top five finishes for Millersville in the 60 Meter Hurdles. The girls recorded times of 9:51 and 10:08 respectively and placed second and fourth in the event. Long also competed in the 1 Mile Run, which she completed in 5:57, crossing the finish line in 15th place. Nicole Sokira participated in the shot put and finished in sixth place with a distance of 9.66m. Richard Stockton College won first place overall with a combined score of 136 points. Millersville returns to action on February 22nd when they travel to Selinsgrove, PA for the Susquehanna Open.
