The Millersville women’s tennis team ended their season on Saturday with a 9-0 victory over Shippensburg University at the McComsey Tennis Courts.

It was a promising end to a rather disappointing season for the Marauders. Elizabeth Wagner opened the day with a 6-1, 6-1, win over Brittnee Buckley.

In the second match, Alexandra Heller defeated Julia Saintz in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Tori Davis followed with a straight set win over Daniela Delgado, 6-2, 6-3.

Sophomore Davis aided in the Marauders’ plundering of the Shipp with her straight-set victory.

Stefanie Fisher defeated Katie Shearer 6-1, 6-3 in the fourth match of the day and Nicole Daacke followed beating Emillie Luttman in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. The sixth match was awarded to Kaylora Thompson by default as she did not have an opponent.

In doubles, the pairing of Wagner and Davis defeated Buckley and Saintz 9-7. Wagner finishes the season with a 5-12 singles record and 4-12 doubles record. Davis concludes the season with a 4-11 singles record and was 5-11 in doubles. The two end their campaign with a 4-11 record, the best on the team.

The second doubles match featured the pairing of Heller and Fisher against Delgado and Shearer. Heller and Fisher won the match 9-8, to end the season with a 4-11 record. Heller finished the campaign with a 3-13 record in singles, and 5-12 in doubles, while Fisher concluded the season 5-10 in singles and 4-11 in doubles.

The third pairing of Daacke and Thompson did not see any action on the court as they did not have an opponent. Thus, they won the match by default, improving their record to 5-3 for this season.

Daacke finished with a 6-3 record in singles and was 5-3 overall this season in doubles. Thompson finished the season 3-4 in singles and 6-3 in doubles.

Millersville ends the 2013-14 season with a 5-11 record overall and .294 winning percentage.
