The Marauders dropped their fifth straight game Saturday.

It was a tough weekend for the Millersville University women’s lacrosse team, as they traveled to Seton Hill on Saturday. The Marauders came into the contest riding a four game losing streak that they hoped to break. However, the Griffins proved too much for Millersville as the girls dropped their fifth straight game 19-8. Brooke Fisher scored three times, giving her 53 for the season and Becky Donkin had her second straight three goal game. Seton Hill’s Emma Simmers tallied six times during the contest, while Morgan Cain and Emily Fagan each delivered four goals. Cain opened the scoring, capitalizing off a Millersville turnover by goalie Kaitlin Crouthamel. They led 2-0 when Fisher blasted the ball past goalie Melanie Morget, to put the Marauders on the score board. The Griffins immediately responded scoring three straight unanswered goals, to make it 5-1. Then Hannah Vogel capitalized on a free position shot and Fisher netted her second goal of the game to cut the deficit to two. The teams would trade scores for the remainder of the period and Millersville would enter halftime down 7-5. In the second half, after Fisher tallied to make the score 11-7, the Griffins started to pull away scoring four straight goals. Millersville rebounded when Donkin scored off a free position shot, but Seton Hill tallied three quick goals to secure the win.

Seton Hill outshot Millersville by a wide margin, 37-18 with the Marauders only mustering eight shots in the first half. The girls fired only six shots Morgets way during the first and nine in the second. Crouthamel was tested, making eight saves on 26 shots as she was tagged with the loss. Millersville held the slight edge in free position shots, 6-5 and capitalized on four opportunities. The Marauders are back in action on April 23rd when they host Shippensburg at 4 p.m.
