The Millersville women’s volleyball team fought admirably against an undefeated force on Saturday, but they just came up short. The Marauders fell to the Seton Hill Griffins in five sets, losing 3-2.

Seton Hill came out of the gates very strong as they went on a 10-4 run to open up the first set. After a Millersville timeout, the Griffins continued to dominate as they went up by 10 points and led 22-12. Millersville dropped the first set by a score of 17-25.

The ladies from Seton Hill came into the second set firing on all cylinders yet again as they opened up the game on a 6-1 run. They held the lead throughout the entirety of the set, even holding a lead as big as 10 points. The Griffins shot .331 in the second set after shooting a scorching .391 in the first set.

The Marauders were not ready to call it quits yet, though. Freshman Victoria Biggins opened up the third set with three service aces and they opened on a 9-3 run against Seton Hill. Millersville held the lead for most of the set, but the Griffins battled back to tie it up at 21 apiece. The Marauders were able to finish the job in this set by scoring the final two to win the frame, 26-24. The fourth set was a tight battle between two very good teams and they opened it up tied at ten each. Millersville was able to keep up the attack and even held a 15-11 advantage before Seton Hill came back to tie it up at 15. The Marauders were able to finish strong and closed the set on a 10-3 run, winning 25-18.

After being down by two sets, Millersville was able to bring it back and tie the game at two sets apiece.

VBSetonSCOREThis intense match went to a fifth set where Seton Hill took over once again. The Marauders came out strong and took a 3-0 lead before going down 9-5 after a 9-3 run by Seton Hill. The comeback fell just short as the Seton Hill Griffins took the final set 15-8 and won the match three sets to two.

Freshman Victoria Biggins was very impressive, notching 52 assists, which is a career high. Erin Harman led the Marauders with 14 kills and Brooklyn Smith had 23 digs. It was an impressive showing by the Marauders and a valiant effort and comeback came up just short.

The Marauders are now 6-5 with a 0-3 record in PSAC play while Seton Hill is 11-0 with a 3-0 record in PSAC play.
