This family-friendly event includes live music, items for sale by vendors, a raffle and a silent auction. All proceeds go to support Wellspan’s Breast Cancer Patient Help Fund. The fund provides financial assistance to cancer patients and their families throughout the treatment and recovery process.

Last year the event raised about 700 dollars. This year, organizer Ian Dellinger hopes the benefit will be able to raise even more money for the fund. “If we can make people aware of how Wellspan does the charity, that’s equally important as raising the money,” Dellinger said.

The idea for the benefit originally came to Dellinger about four or five years ago when he was approached by a breast cancer survivor, Sandra Broadnax. “She was a friend of a friend,” Dellinger said. “[Broadnax] knew about my band, the Infidels, and she had been doing Breast Cancer Awareness events for many years.
The first benefit was organized three years ago, at Kerry’s Green in Red Lion. Last year, the event was moved to New Grounds, where it has continued to grow and become very successful.

The coffee shop—conveniently located on South George Street in York—offers fresh coffee, soups, sandwiches and specialty items including the local favorite, vegan mac ’n’ cheese.

New Grounds is also a concert venue that regularly showcases the talent of local musicians, poets, comedians and more.
