Millersville defeated Slippery Rock 2-0 Saturday afternoon. The No. 1 ranked Marauders remain unbeaten with the record now at 8-0.

Led by senior defenseman Rachel Dickinson, Millersville allowed only one shot which was the fewest shots allowed all season up to that point. However, Slippery Rock only held Millersville to seven shots on net.

Senior Sarah Bomberger scored Millersville’s first goal off of a penalty corner. Bomberger’s goal was assisted by junior Kayla Bixler whose shot was redirected by Bomberger. That goal gave the reigning PSAC Athlete of the Week her third goal of the season.

Champayne Hess’ second half goal put the game out of reach.

With 13 minutes into the second half, redshirt senior Champayne Hess scored to give Millersville a 2-0 lead. Her goal was assisted by seniors Katelyn Zapp and Alicia Youtz. Zapp crossed the ball with Youtz deflecting the ball to Hess to tap in the net for the score.

The win on Saturday gave Millersville its eighth consecutive win over Slippery Rock. The eight-game winning streak dates back to the 2008 season with the Marauders shutting out The Rock in seven of those eight victories.

This season, Millersville outscored their opponents 34-3 and won 18 of their last 20 games dating back to the 2013 season. Millersville will travel to Erie take on Mercyhurst on Saturday, Oct 11 at 1 p.m.
