The Marauders returned to Chryst Field on Saturday afternoon looking to bounce back from their second loss in the team’s last four games. In very usual fashion, the Marauders blanked visiting Limestone, shutting out the No. 4 ranked Saints by a score of 4-0.

After getting back into the win column with two straight 4-0 victories, the Marauders dropped their last game in an intense overtime match up with No. 2. The loss came just days after the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll announced that the Marauders were reaffirmed their spot at the top of the national rankings.

Interestingly, the Marauders have dropped their only two losses on the year by a score of 2-1, and followed both up with 4-0 shutouts the very next game.

Olivia Hershey's second half goal put the game out of reach for the Saints.

Despite the two teams entering with identical 11-2 records and losses to the exact same teams, the Saints were no match for the Marauders in the afternoon. Millersville continued to spread the offensive wealth on Saturday, with each of the team’s four goals coming courtesy of different players.

It took less than six minutes for the Marauders to get on the board, when a corner from Lauren Gerhart was corralled and deposited into the back of the net by Rachel Dickinson for her sixth goal of the season.

Just under 10 minutes later with the score remaining 1-0, Hannah Whitman gathered control of a loose ball in the left side of the circle and blasted it past Saints goal keeper Tabria Cochran to pad the Marauders lead.

Still in the first half the Marauders managed to increase their lead a bit further when Randi Boyd scored her first goal of the season.

With the score sitting at 3-0 going into the half, the pressure rested on the shoulders of the Marauder defense and goal keeper Lauren Sotzin. Evidently, the Marauders play well under pressure. Limestone mustered only six shots in the afternoon, only two of which were on goal. Each of the Saints two shots were saved by Sotzin, who recorded her eighth shutout of the season, and the 27th of her career. That mark ties her for the most in Millersville history with hall of famer Stacy Hollinger.

While Sotzin and the Marauder defense were busy stopping each and every attempted attack by the Saints, Olivia Hershey managed to score the fourth goal of the game for the ‘Ville and the fourth of the season for Hershey. After receiving a pass from Arianna Grays, Hershey fired a shot that was saved by Cochran. Not deterred, Hershey gathered the rebound and found the back of the cage, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Up next for the Marauders is a game against East Stroudsburg University on Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. The Warriors, who currently sit at 9-5 on the season, have yet to face off against the Marauders this season, but enter on a five game winning streak, including shutouts of Dowling and Seton Hill.
