The Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company is a sketch and improvisational comedy group that was founded by SNL cast member and “Parks and Recreation” star Amy Poehler. Since its inception, the Upright Citizens Brigade (or UCB) has been humoring audiences across the nation. The cast is handpicked from the best of the best comedians and has featured the talents of Jack McBrayer (“30 Rock”), Ed Helms (“The Office,” “The Hangover”), Ellie Kemper (“The Office,” “Bridesmaids”), Rob Corddry (“The Daily Show”), Rob Riggle (“SNL,” “The Daily Show”) and Adam McKay (“Anchorman,” “Funny or Die”).

The Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) visited Millersville University’s Clair Performance Hall on Saturday, March 28 for a night full of comedy and laughs. Opening for the UCB was Millersville’s own improvisational comedy group, Improv Molotov.

The members of Improv Molotov took the stage and immediately launched into their first bit called “Half-life.” In this sketch, the audience is asked for a suggestion of an activity which the members are given one minute to perform. After that minute is up, the performers are given 30 seconds to reenact their one minute sketch, then 10 seconds, five seconds, and finally one second. By the end of the sketch the performers are frantically shouting as many words as they can within that second, leaving the audience in stitches.

Another sketch performed by the group is called “Text Message,” where the audience members are asked for a funny and/or strange text messages, after which the message is interpreted and performed by the members of Improv Molotov.

After an introduction from the members of Improv Molotov and a warm welcome from the audience, the members of the UCB took the stage. The UCB Touring Company Cast for Saturday’s show consisted of Yoni Lotan, Morgan Miller, Keaton Patti and Stefan Schuette.

Yoni Lotan is an actor, writer and filmmaker who is currently living in New York City. Lotan has a BFA in Film/Television from the School of Visual Arts and, since 2008, has been studying improvisational humor at the UCB theatre in New York City. He also performs in a two-man comedy show called “License to Chill” along with other performances throughout the city.
