International Policy Conference brings happiness to Millersville University

Millersville University is hosting the 2015 International Policy Conference: The Essentials of Happiness on Oct. 1 and 2 in the Lehr Room in Bolger Conference Center (Gordiner Hall).

During the conference, speakers and sessions will explore the science, discipline and art of happiness and well-being. There will be several sessions hosted by Millersville departments, which include:

 

  •  Enhancing the Well-Being of Vulnerable Populations
  • Pursuit of Happiness: Gender, Public Policy and the Search for Human Happiness
  • Sustainable Living as a Path to Happiness
  • Global Happiness and Well-Being: Social Factors and the Movement for Change
  • Personal Happiness: Cultivating Mindfulness and Stress Reduction
  • Happiness—Why Wait?: Democracy & Education
  • Planning and Building for Health, Wellness and Social Connectivity: How our Environment Shape Behavior, Health and Happiness
  • Power of Ordinary: Voices of the Denied to Shouts of the Affirmed
  • Location, Location, Location: Looking for a Happy Home
  • A Blueprint for a Better Quality of Working LifeThe conference will also feature two keynote speakers, Linda Larson and Justin Wolfers.

    Larson is a former TV actress who puts a spotlight on positivity and achieving goals. She is a best-selling author of many CD, video programs and a book titled, True Power: Get it, Use it, Share it. The book outlines how she was held hostage at gunpoint and documents about her escape.

    Wolfers is an economist who artfully outlines how economics influence people’s everyday lives from law and politics to behavior and labor. He is a columnist for the Bloomberg View, The New York Times and the Freaknomics Blog.
