Jaime Vasquez, former Millersville soccer standout, signed his first professional deal with the Harrisburg Heat who play in the Major Arena Soccer League. He debuted on January 30.

His former teammates and coaches are very excited for Jaime.

“I think it is awesome and well deserved. He is a great player and an even better person and he deserves it,” former MU teammate, Chris Sosa said of his friend signing a professional contract. Sosa was not very surprised that he went pro.

Vasquez is one of the true greats to lace up for MU. He racked in many awards and honors while being a Marauder including All-American honors. His best season was 2015 his senior year with the black and gold. He tallied 42 points with 19 goals. He secured PSAC Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Year along with many other accolades.

Although it is a new start for Vasquez since it is an indoor league but former MU Coach Steve Widdowson thinks he will make the transition smoothly.

“We are very excited for Jaime. You know it is a new game, a different game to him playing indoor soccer. I know he has the quality to do very well,” Widdowson said of him former star.

His teammates obviously wish him the best at the next level and recognized that he was a special player.

“He is the best player I have ever played with. He made everyone around him better. Always had a smile on his,” Sosa added about his former teammate.
