Couldn’t wait to graduate and now she gives her best regards

Christine plans to have a career with helping people, specifically children.

By Christine Illes

Since I joined the Snapper as a freshman, I had always looked up to the seniors. I remember watching them each year at our banquet, celebrating their upcoming graduation with shots and laughs. I remember thinking “Wow. I can’t wait until I graduate!” It’s hard to believe that I’m there now.
If it weren’t for the Snapper, I honestly would not have an organization I belong to. Some of my greatest memories have been in this office (and some of my worst in all honesty). Thinking back on my college experience, being part of the Snapper will always have a place in my heart. From being a writer in Features to Photo Editor, I have learned so much about journalism, and what the newspaper means to others.
I have met some truly amazing people while I have been here. I want to thank Gene Ellis for pushing me to join the Snapper when I was a freshman. I am sorry I had a lot of class conflict and didn’t visit you enough during your office hours this past year, but I just wanted to let you know that I truly look up to you! Good luck with your retirement, and thank you for everything you have taught me throughout my college career.
To Dr. Spicer- Thank you for being such a great mentor these past two semesters. Thank you so much for your guidance and advise to better this organization.
To Rachel- I was deeply saddened when you left this past semester, but I want to thank you so much for showing me the ropes of the photo editor position. You have done so much for this organization, and you have been my partner in crime. It’s going to be a very sad day when we have to take all our memes down from the wall. Keep in touch, and thank you for everything!
To Kelsey- You have truly become one of my best friends this past year. I have enjoyed our wine nights, Village experiences, and the countless cat videos and conversations about cheese and fedoras. You put in so much dedication into this organization, and I know you are going to be so successful! Along with that, I know we will always keep in touch. Thank you for so many memories.
To Marianne- I cannot thank you enough for the words of wisdom you have given me throughout our time together here. You are one of the most down to earth people I have met, and I wish you and your family the best in life. I know you are truly going to go far.
To Maria- I have enjoyed our office talks about completely random subjects and serial killers. I know you will do great in Maryland!
To Allie- I am so happy you are going to be taking on Editor-in-Chief next semester! You are going to be fantastic, and I am going to miss you so much!
To past staff- Kevin, Danielle, Cat, Katie and more, thank you for some great memories and showing me what dedication truly means. You have all showed me that hard work truly pays off.
To the rest of the staff, I wish you all luck in your new positions! I am so proud of everything we have accomplished together. I love you all, and I will miss you dearly!
Once again, thank you all so much for the memories.
