The nationally ranked mens soccer team hosted Slippery Rock at 1PM at Pucillo field. MMillersville defeated Slippery Rock 3-0. Goals were scored by junior Natan Delgado, sophomore Omar Guzman, and junior Kody Eberly. Freshman Darian McCauley was in the goal during the course of the entire game. McMauley had an easy day in the goal, since he only needed to make two saves. Slippery Rock shot at the Marauders net less than ten times.

Each time a Marauder scored a goal, a player from Slippery Rock tried scoring, but McCauley saved every attempt.

Delgado was first to score a goal when he snuck it past the goal keeper. Guzman tried scoring before he actually got it in. His first shot hit the goal and ended up going out of bounds. That didn’t stop him, though. A few moments later Guzman retrieved the ball from sophomore Andrei Kin and incased the Marauder lead. The last goal of the day was kicked in after sophomore Dylan Forgerty passed the ball to Eberly. The Marauders played a very strong game and stuck together as a team. The game had many spectators cheering on both teams and hoisting their colors.

In soccer, fouls aren’t always a terrible thing, the Marauders had 13 while Slippery Rock only had 7. The Marauders shot at the opponents goal 7 times, while Slippery Rock only attempted two shots. Our defense this season is continuing to grow.

The Marauders are having a very strong season with 4 wins, 1 tie, and 1 loss. The coaching staff recruited some very strong players for the 2016 season, and this team will go far. 8 out of the 28 man roster are freshman and seeing freshman start is rare, but our soccer team is starting freshman.

The Marauders play at home on Wednesday against Pitt-Johnstown at 5, and on Saturday against Gannon at 1.
