Are you looking to buy a new mug to hold your morning cup of coffee? Perhaps you have been wanting to make the next great ceramic work of art? Look no further than the Slip & Score Society!

Millersville University’s Slip & Score Society is a campus club open to all art majors and non-majors. The goal of the club is to get students involved in making their own ceramic pieces as well as to educate members about ceramic artists.

The club teaches ceramic-making skills, such as throwing on the wheel or hand-building. Members have the opportunity to make and glaze utilitarian or decorative pieces

During the spring and fall semesters, Slip & Score Society holds a ceramic sale where members are able to sell their pieces and retain fifty percent of the sale price. There is the potential to get a return on membership costs–$10 if you are currently enrolled in a Ceramics course on campus, or $25 if you are not enrolled in a course—and make a profit.

In addition to the ceramic sale, Slip & Score Society is currently selling tickets for a raffle for the chance to win ceramic pieces made by four Millersville students and Professor Emily Bayless. Fifty percent of the raffle proceeds will be donated to a local charity.

In light of recent events within the United States, the club voted to send the money to the Lancaster County Refugee Coalition. According to their website, lancasterrefugees.org, LCRC is a group of organizations that supports refugees that live in and around Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The goal of LCRC is to improve the integration process for refugees into communities and social services. LCRC is one of the largest refugee settlement groups within the state of Pennsylvania.

Raffle tickets may be purchased from any Slip & Score Society member. For $2 you can purchase 1 ticket, or for $5 you can purchase 3 tickets. When you purchase your ticket(s), you can decide which piece you would like to enter for your chance to win. Please note that purchasing a raffle ticket does not enter you into the raffle for all five pieces. Tickets will also be sold at the Spring Ceramic Sale, which will run on: April 6th and 7th from 10AM-8PM, and on April 8th from 10AM-5PM. The sale will be located in the Ceramic Studio in Breidenstine Hall, Room B100.

Membership for Slip & Score Society is still open to Millersville students. The club meets every other Wednesday from 7PM-8:30PM in the Ceramic Studio. The club will meet for the remainder of the semester on the following dates: March 29th, April 12th, April 26th, and May 10th. For more information about the sale, the raffle, or the club, you can find Slip & Score Society on Facebook (@slipandscore) or on GetInvolved.
