A live-action version of the comic “Iron Fist” hit Netflix recently. The series centers around the action and adventure genre, and offers it time and again throughout most episodes. Netflix recommends a mature audience for this new series. This series is intended to be connected with other Netflix Marvel series such as “Daredevil”, “Luke Cage”, and “Jessica Jones”. There’s many intertwining themes between all recent Marvel films and TV series. Luckily, for those that are uninterested in watching certain Marvel features, “Iron Fist” has little overlap. However, plots in “Daredevil” may be worth the consideration for understanding certain characters better.

The cast for the new series hosts a ragtag of varying recognizable faces from other franchises. Finn Jones, who plays the Iron Fist, and Jessica Henwick may be noticed by fans of Game of Thrones as they play as Ser Loras Tyrell and Nymeria Sand, respectively.  Another possibly recognizable actor, David Wenham, who was Faramir in The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as the storyteller, Dlilios, in the movie 300, appear in the show. There is also Tom Pelphrey, a winner of two Daylight Emmys. For those who have watched other Marvel themed Netflix Original series, they may recognize Rosario Dawson, an actress recognizable for those that have seen Sin City.

Lastly, Jessica Stroup, a common actress for horror movies like The Hills Have Eyes II, takes a major role through the series. When it comes to considering the worth of intrigue, a personal critique is that the new Marvel TV show has promise to be an excellent series, but the source of the developing ideas is no hallmark. The pilot episodes are unfortunately slow to start, but the plots that emerge are worth the delay of action. There are twists and a straight forward plot when looked back upon. IMDb rates the series at 7.4 and comments with a satisfactory analysis. IMDb gives a noticeable standpoint on the disappoint with the choreography of the martial arts in the series in comparison to another Marvel series, “Daredevil”, of which has its own hefty load of combat based around martial arts that barely differs. Netflix’s trademark of its magnetism of drama that leads to the temptation of binging Iron fist has seen popularity.

IGN takes a rather harsh outlook upon Marvel and Netflix’s new series, as they blatantly state, “Iron Fist himself is the worst thing about Iron Fist.” This harkens to their concern the developing personality of the main character, of which they deem “lackluster.” The review ratings bounce between a 5.8 and 7.6, but average most of the time at a 6.6 or 6.5, including the finale. There was a similar sense of unkempt feelings with other actors, such as Tom Pelphrey and Jessica Stroup. However, compliments from IGN came about with Jessica Henwick and Dawson’s acting and performances. All in all, Iron Fist sits on a contentious podium, but there is no reason not to check out Marvel’s latest entertainment for fans of the Superhero Genre.
