Millersville broke their single-season home run record on Monday after hitting 11 home runs in a two-game sweep of Bowie State.

The feat was so notable that CBS 21 mentioned it on the sports segment of their nightly newscast.

The Marauders scored a total of 33 runs between their 17-3, and 16-1 victories.

The 11 home runs brought their season total to 27, topping their previous single-season home run total of 22.

The first game was off to a quick start after the Marauders scored nine runs in the second inning.

Sophomore Rebecca Blatt came up with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam to center field.

Faith Willenbrock then scored on an error by the left fielder hit by Maggie Murphy.

The game broke wide open when Kaylen Buskey blasted a two-run home run to left field to extend the Marauder’s lead to 7-0.

Millersville carried a no-hitter through for almost five innings. Cassidy Pinchorski threw two innings and did not allow a hit.

Paige Harris then took the mound and continued the no-hit trend.

Emma Bevard was called onto pitch next and she also built off of the previous two pitchers.

The Marauders would tack on another 10 runs in an impressive win over the Bulldogs.

The Marauders took their momentum into the second game where they won by 15 runs.

Similar to game one, Millersville tacked on seven runs in the second inning to jump out to an early 7-0 lead.

Blatt smashed another home run while on her way to hitting three total on the day.

Kelsey Campbell made the game 8-0 after she had an RBI of her own.

Campbell later scored on a wild pitch in that same inning. Raeann Buskey hit a sacrifice fly to score Meghan McCurdy to extend the lead to 10.

The scoring wasn’t finished there. Murphy came to the plate and drove in two runs to extend the Marauder’s lead to 12-0 after three innings.

Millersville tacked on their final four runs in a span of two innings.

Freshman pitcher Catherine Johnson earned her fourth win of the season after recording four strikeouts in three innings in the Marauders big win.

Brianna White took the mound next and struck out four without allowing a hit.

The Marauders are 11-8 on the season and they hope to continue their high offensive production as the head into the second half of the season.

They will head to East Stroudsburg to take on the Warriors in a doubleheader on March 30.
