The Marauders returned home for two matches this weekend against Clarion and IUP. After being on the road for about a month, the Marauders looked to continue their winning ways at home.
Their home record before facing Clarion on Friday was 8-1. When Friday night’s match concluded, Millersville improved to 9-1 on their home court. The Marauders dominated Clarion sweeping them and winning the match in three sets.
The first set was the largest set win for Millersville winning 25-15. The second set got a little closer, but the Marauders held on and one 25-19. The third set would be the closest set of the match with Millersville winning 25-20.
Jayci Suesland simply could not be stopped as she had 20 kills on just four errors in the match up for Millersville.
The Marauders were the much better team in this match. Clarion did not play disciplined and it hurt them greatly. They had 25 errors along with four service errors and hit at a .068 percent.
Millersville played great Friday night and continued their winning at home with a quick turnaround match against IUP on Saturday.
As IUP came into Pucillo Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon Millersville was fresh off a great win the previous night. When the match began Millersville played exactly like Friday night, dominant.
The Marauders won the first set 25-15. Millersville doubled the number of kills with 12 to IUP’s six in the set. When the second set started Millersville looked like they were going to win by a wide margin. The Marauders were up 21 to 7, but IUP quickly built momentum scoring on 9 of 11 serves. However, Millersville stopped IUPs momentum and won the set 25-18.
The third and final deciding match was a great well fought match. It had looked like IUP had wrapped things up with a 23-10 lead over Millersville. The Marauders knew they had to pull together quick to try and get the sweep of IUP and essentially the weekend. That’s exactly what happened as Millersville shrunk down IUP’s lead to just three.
The Marauders never gave up and with a match winning kill by Chyna Gubbings gave Millersville the sweep of IUP. The final score of the set was 26-24.
Millersville played great all weekend. With the final set being as sweet of a comeback as it was put a bow on top of an awesome weekend of volleyball for the Marauders. With this win the Marauders improved to 10-1 on their home court this season.
Millersville with just three matches to go in the regular season, the Maruaders will face off against West Chester, Kutztown, and East Stroudsburg in that stretch. All these matches will be home in Pucillo Gymnasium which is certainly in Millersville’s favor.
