The Marauders went into the weekend series against East Stroudsburg still looking to clinch a PSAC playoff spot. However, ESU swept Millersville in the four-game series, extending the Marauders losing streak to six games.
In Friday’s doubleheader at ESU the Marauders struggled to show any signs of life at the plate as the team was only able to put up three hits, two came from senior Derek Kline who also scored the only run for Millersville on an RBI from senior Kent Gerdes. . . .
The Phillies have announced they will decide whether to put short stop Jimmy Rollins on the 15-day disabled list this week. Rollins has been on fire so far this season batting .391 and an on base percentage of .516.
Rollins has been a crucial element to the Phillies success so far this year, as the team is currently 6-1 after the first week of the season. If Rollins does get placed on the disabled list, which is very likely, Juan Castro will take over as short stop. . . .
Over the weekend, the baseball team took on Shippensburg for some key conference games. The Marauders were able to pull away with a four-game sweep of the Raiders, improving their overall record to 14-15 and a conference record of 8-6. The winning streak was enough to move Millersville into third place in the PSAC East standings. . . .
The Marauders went into last weekend looking to overcome their recent struggles, and came out with three key conference wins over Bloomsburg. Going into the match up against Bloomsburg, the Marauders only had two wins in their last 12 games. The wins over the weekend also helped push the Marauders above Bloomsburg in the PSAC East division standings. . . .
Millersville’s baseball team got off to a rough start to their conference play this weekend losing three of four against Mansfield. The Marauders kicked off the weekend at home on Friday, splitting the double-header.
