There are five Sony HD flatscreens within the control room, itself. Additional TVs are located throughout the rest of the studio.

Why not start the week off with being up-to-date with the local and national news?  MUTV99 airs their weekly news program, NEWS99, every Monday evening. They cover both local and national news. The program also features student-made work.  This past Monday was their first taping of the semester, and also the crew’s first time using the new TV studio equipment.

Over the summer the TV studio, located in Bassler, received a $750,000 makeover.  The studio got a new switchboard, teleprompter, monitors, audio switchboard and many HD Sony flat screen TVs.  One of the perks of being a part of the crew is that the members of MUTV99 switch up the different positions every week so that everyone can gain experience with the equipment.
This semester’s producers of NEWS99 are Amanda Conroy and John Coleman.  The positions for this week were held by the following members: George Ramos and Jess Doudrick on the switchboard, Becca Knier as CG operator, Ashlyn Bartlebaugh on teleprompter, Mike McGuirk on the VTR machine, Jacob Pironi and Dacey Horohoe on the audio board, Logan Copp and Mark Yang were the cameramen, Roger Cowden and Sam Galvez are the anchors and Shane Taylor on weather.

The newly renovated Bassler TV studio received a makeover during the summer totaling $750,000.

On this week’s NEWS99 program they covered a good variety of stories including the attack in Afghanistan that killed four U.S. troops. There was also talk of Mitt Romney, and they also had a reporter who got to have a sneak peek at the library renovations.  Overall, it was a successful show, which was then followed by the program ‘In the Zone’ produced by Mason Perricone.  So tune in next Monday and catch the shows.
