It’s that time of year. The telltale signs are everywhere: the changing colors of the leaves, the start of college and NFL football seasons, the sudden spurt of TV show season premieres, the dropping temperatures, and of course, the return of pumpkin spice lattes. With the arrival of fall, the opportunity for so many seasonal activities presents itself and with Millersville University being smack in the middle of farm country, there are many festivities happening locally that students can participate in. Check out this list and find something you’re interested in.

• Country Barn (211 S. Donerville Rd., Lancaster, PA 17603; 717- 872-1554)
The Country Barn, located less than ten minutes from campus, offers a wide variety of fall-themed activities. They have a farm market offering fresh locally-grown produce and meat as well as baked goods. Tuesday and Friday nights they host DJs for country line dancing from 6:30-10 p.m. with a $6 admission fee. Saturdays and Sundays until Oct. 27, they also have a pumpkin patch that you can take a hayride to and pick your own pumpkins (pay per pound). Until Nov. 2 they have a 5-acre corn maze open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights from dusk until close you can do the corn maze with a flashlight.

• Field of Screams (191 College Ave., Mountville, PA 17554; 717-285-7748)
Field of Screams is a world-renowned local horror park that offers four main attractions: the Haunted Hayride, the Den of Darkness, the Frightmare Asylum, and their newest, the Nocturnal Wasteland. For $33 you can buy a scream pass, which gets you into all four attractions, or you can buy passes for only certain attractions. On Nov. 9 Field of Screams will host the 5K Zombie Fun Run, where participants run from zombies through the Field of Screams.
• Lancaster Ghost Tour (2 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602; 717-687-6687)
Nightly through the month of October, candlelight walking tours in downtown Lancaster offer participants a haunted history of the city, covering 300 years. The tours last for 90 minutes and tickets cost $14.
• Cherry Crest Adventure Farm (150 Cherry Hill Rd., Ronks, PA 17572; 717-687-6843)
Much like Country Barn, Cherry Crest Adventure Farm offers customers variety of activities. They also have a five acre corn maze, with a flashlight maze from 6:30-10pm. They also have a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkins, and they offer spaces for private and group campfires.
• Oktoberfest at Iron Hill Brewery (781 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603; 717-291-9800)
Now through October 13th, Iron Hill Brewery is hosting Oktoberfest, including a very German-inspired menu and special deals on different brews.
• Fall Fest (Overlook Park)
Overlook Park in Manheim Township hosts Fall Fest every year, where they bring in country music artists to perform throughout the day. The lineup includes artists such as Lonestar, Joe Nichols, and Frankie Ballard. There will also be food stands.
