Big decisions are looming over the heads of pledges and sisters alike as four Millersville sororities hold recruitment this week. Any Millersville woman who is interested in recruitment, here is what you need to know. Starting on Monday, Jan. 31 through Friday, Feb. 5, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, Delta Zeta, Alpha Xi Delta are holding open recruitment. These national sororities are members of the “National Panhellenic Conference.” Women in recruitment are required to have a minimum of 12 college credits, as well as a GPA of at least 2.5.
Although four sororities are holding recruitment this week, it important to note that there are eight active sororities on campus. If you’re interested in a culturally based sorority, Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority uses a process of “Membership Intake,” rather than recruitment. Most culturally based sororities will hold informational sessions about their organizations in the next upcoming weeks, the dates of which are available on Millersville Get Involved.
For recruits still stressing about bids, Alpha Sigma Alpha’s Rachel Moskowitz offered a bit of sisterly advice: “Keep an open mind and remember if you win multiple bids, choose for yourself the organization that best suits your needs, not just for your friends.” Bids for the four Panhellenic sororities will be revealed in the Student Memorial Center Multi-Purpose Room on Friday.
