The Marauders took to the road this weekend to face East Stroudsburg and Kutztown. In the first game which occurred on Friday October 12th, Millersville would take on division leaders East Stroudsburg. The Marauders have lost three straight going into their matchup with the Warriors and needed to turn it around quickly.

That’s exactly what happened as Millersville would sweep East Stroudsburg 3-0.

The first set of the match was tightly contested but Millersville came out on top 25-23. Millersville found themselves down 19-15 in the set but pulled together and came back for the win. The Marauders fought hard to make the score 24-23 and with a final kill by Jayci Suseland, Millersville was able to win the first set of the match.

Millersville would dominate the second set of the match 25-14. Jayci Suseland and Lindsey Blevins played a huge part in why the Marauders would play great in this second set. They combined for 13 kills and Millersville put up two blocks and two service aces in the set.

When the third set started the Warriors found themselves down 2-0 to Millersville. The division leaders were stunned, they needed to play better to get back into the match. East Stroudsburg quickly scored on four of the first five rallies, but the Marauders would stop the Warriors in their tracks. Down 10-8 Millersville rallied and scored eight of the next nine points.

Like the first set, Millersville had to fight hard to beat East Stroudsburg to get the sweep. It was on a set winning kill by Lindsey Blevins that gave Millersville a 25-23 match win, sweeping the division leading East Stroudsburg Warriors.

Coming off an outstanding win against the division leading East Stroudsburg Warriors, Millersville had a quick turnaround as they faced Kutztown on Saturday October 13th. The Marauders picked up right where they left off the night before beating Kutztown 3-1.

The first set saw Millersville win by 11 points 25-14. The Marauders quickly scored 10 points and went up 10-1 on the first 11 points scored in the set. Eight of Millersville’s points came while Lindsey Blevins was serving, and six points were scored on kills.

Kutztown flipped the script in the second set of the match as they won 25-12. Millersville struggled in this set by committing nine errors.

The Marauders bounced back in the third set winning 25-21 as this would be the most competitive set of the match. Millersville had 13 kills in the set and cut their errors down to three. Kutztown looked like they were making a comeback in the set but with a kill by Blevins and an ace by Katie Laughman, it would secure a third set victory for the Marauders.

Millersville would take the fourth and final set 25-15. Once again, the Marauders only had three errors and they totaled 18 kills. Suseland had seven kills in the final set securing a match win for Millersville.

The Marauders had a great weekend earning themselves two PSAC wins. These wins improved Millersville’s record to 11-9 on the season and 6-5 in PSAC play.

Millersville had a great weekend winning six of the seven sets they played between the two matches.

The Marauders look to continue their great play on the road as they will play two again next weekend. First match will be played at California University on Friday, October 19th and the second match at Seton Hill on Saturday, October 20th.
