We are just a few days away from Halloween, which means it’s time to break down my picks for this year’s ‘most overrated’ costumes for the year. I have spent the last few weeks gathering my draft picks from TikTok, Twitter, and Spirit Halloween’s website in order to narrow down my top five favorites that I think are going to be extremely popular.
#5: Harley Quinn
I honestly don’t think there will ever be a time that a Harley Quinn costume isn’t seen during Halloween. Between Birds of Prey and Suicide Squad, there are three different top outfit choices that can be used for this costume. But to be fair, Harley has some pretty unique style so I can see the desire to want to dress like her.
#4: Wolf of Wall Street
This one was a bit surprising to me considering the movie was released in 2013. But TikTok continued to show me that many couples want to dress like Jordan Belford and Naomi Lapaglia. But I mean who wouldn’t wanna dress like Margot Robbie? If you haven’t seen the movie, the couple is most commonly known for their incredibly spicy relationship that is full of toxic love and plenty of fights. Oh, and they’re also known for being an incredibly attractive pair so it all balances out in the end.
#3: Scooby-Doo Gang
This is a great group costume, but it’s definitely been overused the last couple of years. Even though it’s a classic, it seems to be an easy throw-together costume after a quick run to the local Salvation Army. The reason I know this is because last year I went as Velma, and did the exact same thing. It’s easy, classic, and fun to dress up as.
#2: Squid Game
The minute I started watching this show on Netflix I knew that this was going to be one of the most popular costumes of the year. There is little to no effort required to dress like one of the contestants, and all you need is a green tracksuit. For a worker or a VIP you’re going to need to get a bit more creative and find a mask that fits the shape you’re looking for. I’m placing my bets that this is going to be a common costume for middle and high school kids.
#1: Wandavision
Finally coming in at number 1 we have WandaVision! This is a great couples costume since there are so many different options to choose from but it’s also a great solo option! I’ve seen so many different Halloween Wanda costumes on TikTok and many people are simply buying each of the pieces off Amazon! As a Marvel fan myself I am so excited to see all of the different variations of Wanda Maximoff costumes this Halloween.
