Millersville University’s Office of Student Affairs and the Finance and Administration team recently released some information regarding changes in the Title IX Office.
The Title IX Office for Millersville University provides students with the support and resources needed to combat sexual misconduct on campus. According to the Title IX page on the university website, this includes, but is not limited to, dating violence, domestic violence, retaliation, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, and stalking. Students are encouraged to report these incidents to ensure the safety of themselves and others who may feel unsafe on campus.
Currently, the Title IX Coordinator for Millersville University is Elizabeth Swantek, who was designated by the university to assure compliance with the Title IX policies. However, she will be leaving the office soon which allows more room for some changes to be made.
In the best interest of Millersville University’s safety for its students and faculty, the Title IX office will begin reporting to Debbie Newsom, the Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration. Bradley Davis will take the title of Interim Title IX Coordinator, and will report directly to Newsom. Previously, the Title IX Office was housed under Student Affairs in the Student Memorial Center.
As the new administration takes on Title IX, the office will also move to the Dilworth Building. Davis will have an office there in room 110, but the Title IX office in Student Affairs will remain open as this physical transition occurs.
This change will officially take place on April 1, 2023. Newsom and Dr. Mary Beth Williams, Vice President of Student Affairs sent a letter out to all Millersville students and faculty notifying the changes.
