Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is a chapter that allows students to gain knowledge in various communications professions, specifically with a focus on public relations.

“We host speakers throughout the semester from all areas of the comm profession including PR, advertising, marketing, event planning, etc.,” said PRSSA president Leah Reagan.”

Next semester, they will be working on a big organ donation campaign.

“In the spring, we compete against other schools in PA in an organ donation awareness campaign to see who can sign up the most students to become organ donors. This allows students to gain a better understanding of how a public relations campaign is formed,” Reagan said.

“[The campaign is] a great way to get involved, meet others, and learn more about organ donation,” said Sara Hedglin, vice president of the chapter.

Although the chapter is focused on public relations, PRSSA is open and beneficial to students of all majors.

“It is a way to get students to meet professionals and to grow their professional self,” Hedglin said. “I would describe PRSSA as a way to get yourself a step further into your future career and advance your communication skills with others.”

Anyone interested in getting involved with PRSSA is encouraged to reach out via Instagram (@mvilleprssa) or attend a meeting. Meetings take place every other Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Hash 212. The upcoming speakers include:
