Rep. Ismail Smith-Wade-El was on campus Oct. 24 for the “Pizza, Policy, Pizza” event. Visitors gathered at the Student Memorial Center Atrium to enjoy pizza and conservations and current events.
Rep. “Izzy” as he is most often referred to is nearing completion in his first year in the state legislature, representing the 49th district. He was able to return to his home on Monday night, his mom was a professor for Millersville.
Students who gathered were able to ask a variety of questions in a unique experience to personally talk with a state representative. A variety of subjects were covered including the ongoing conflict in Israel, funding for affordable housing, and state election finance reform.
The Center for Civic Responsibility and Leadership hosted the event. In addition to Rep. Izzy and the pizza, there were free gifts students could pick up. They also had a table to help any students with voter registration. Tuesday was the last day for new voters to register and be eligible for the Nov. 7 Judicial elections.
